COVID-19 Update

Ontario Soccer

As of 10:30pm Thursday night, Ontario Soccer suspended ALL sanctioned soccer-related activities in Ontario indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Effective immediately, the OCSL will be closed for any in-person visits. Email and phone calls will still be answered during our office hours.

Ontario Soccer - FAQs regarding indefinite suspension

We will continue relaying any information passed down from our governing body to ensure you are all aware of any changes that may have an impact on your soccer organization. We ask that you share any relevant information with your team officials and players, as the majority of team contacts (and therefore contact details) have not yet been activated to the OCSL website. We strongly urge everyone to visit government agencies websites such as Health Canada and Ottawa Public Health to stay as up to date as possible with the emerging public health crisis.

The OCSL will be making the following amendments to the upcoming deadlines:

Previous deadline

New deadline – effective immediately

Rec. Club Application + Team Fees

March 31

April 17

Activation Deadline for Comp. Teams

April 1

April 20

Entry Level Referee Course

April 18-19

April 18-19

Discipline + Appeals Course

April 25

April 25

Field Fees

May 1

May 1

League Games Scheduled to begin

May 19

May 19

These “New Deadlines” are subject to be pushed further into the spring based on the length of time sanctioned soccer is suspended. Given the circumstances, we will try to be as accommodating as possible.

In an effort to curb intense scheduling demands in late April / early May, we encourage clubs that do not need an extension to submit their recreational applications by the original due date.

Upcoming deadlines and events will be reviewed on a weekly basis and communicated to the membership several weeks before they are set to take place.

2020 Summer

The league remains cautiously optimistic that we will be able to start the season as originally planned – on Tuesday, May 19th. Having said that, the OCSL will not compromise or risk the health and or safety of any of its players, coaches, match officials, staff, etc. The magnitude and global impact of COVID-19 is unprecedented, and what will happen moving forward remains unknown.

The LMB has begun mapping out contingency plans should the season be delayed. They will be meeting next week to discuss alternatives.

The OCSL will be releasing a minimum of one statement a week with any updates and or developments.
